Funeral Ministry

Funeral Ministry is a pastoral ministry of the parish that accompanies the deceased and their families with prayer, compassion, faith, and Christian hope during the time of death, funeral, and bereavement. It helps the parish community express its belief in Christ’s death and Resurrection and the promise of eternal life. The aim of the Funeral Ministry is to provide spiritual, pastoral, and compassionate support to the bereaved family and to assist them in entrusting their loved one to God’s mercy and care.

Goals

  1. To provide Christian consolation to families who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
  2. To proclaim the hope of the Resurrection and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
  3. To assist families in preparing and participating meaningfully in the funeral liturgy, prayers, and other Church services.
  4. To accompany the bereaved through prayer, presence, and practical pastoral support.
  5. To strengthen the faith of the parish community by witnessing to the Christian understanding of death, resurrection, and eternal life.
  6. To remember and pray for the deceased, especially during the period of mourning and on appropriate anniversaries.
  7. To build a compassionate parish community where no grieving family feels alone.
