The Lector’s Ministry is an important liturgical ministry in which a person is entrusted with proclaiming the Word of God during the celebration of the Holy Mass and other liturgical celebrations. The primary purpose is to proclaim the biblical readings clearly and reverently so that the faithful can hear and understand God’s message. By proclaiming the readings effectively, Lectors help the entire assembly participate more fully and consciously in the liturgy.

Lectors assist the Church in the worthy and meaningful celebration of the Holy Eucharist and other liturgical services. Through faithful proclamation, the lector helps the congregation listen to God and respond to His Word in faith.

Lectors are encouraged to study Sacred Scripture and deepen their understanding of the Bible and Catholic faith. The ministry calls the lector to live according to the Word proclaimed. Their life should reflect Christian faith, love, and service.
