A church choir is a ministry of the Church that uses the gift of music and singing to praise God, lead the congregation in worship, proclaim the Word of God through sacred music, and foster unity among the faithful. The choir is therefore not simply a musical group or a group that performs during Mass. It is a liturgical ministry and a service to the worshipping community.

Going back to our Tampa Choir history, we started our Malayalam mass for the Tampa community back in the early 90’s. Before the Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic mission in Tampa, it was a joint mass for all the Catholic Malayalee community. After the inauguration of Knanaya mission, we started Malayalam mass every Sunday in 2009.

We also have a youth choir for English mass. Their contributions help to lead our younger generation to continued participation within our church.
